Home Efficiency Rebate Program

Effective Monday July 15, 2024

If you are looking to make upgrades to your home’s heating and cooling equipment, the Home Efficiency Rebate Program can help you during the process. The program allows Enbridge Gas homeowners to carry out home upgrades to lower their carbon emissions and improve energy efficiency. One of the more popular ways is through cold climate heat pumps and hybrid water heaters.

However, there are a few steps to complete before you can benefit from the rebate program. Hence, the team at ServicePlus would like you to know exactly what this initiative is about and how they can help.

What Is The Home Efficiency Rebate Program?

The Home Efficiency Rebate Program is part of an strategy to help Canada achieve its climate change commitments in 2030 and improve Canada’s chances of reaching net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. It provides financial reimbursement for Enbridge Gas customers to evaluate and modify houses so they can better suit renewable energy. Therefore, the Home Efficiency Rebate provides qualified applicants with:

  • Rebates to recoup retrofit costs from up to $5000
  • Contributions of $600 towards the expense of your EnerGuide evaluations before and after the retrofit.

Eligibility Requirements of The Home Efficiency Rebates Program

The Home Efficiency Rebates Program is available to most homes in Canada that use Enbridge Gas as their natural gas supplier. However, only one homeowner per home can apply for the rebate. Firstly, to apply you must provide:

  • Must be an Enbridge Gas customer for space heating at the time of First and/or Final assessment
  • Primary and Non-Primary residences qualify
  • Must complete a Pre-Retrofit Energy Assessment prior to installation of upgrades and a Post-Retrofit Energy Assessment once upgrades are completed – No Exceptions
  • Maximum timeframe of 120 days between pre and post-assessments
  • Requires a minimum of 2 eligible measures completed to qualify

What groups do not qualify:

  • Multi-unit residential buildings are not eligible
